A delegation from the Ministry of Energy and Water, led by the Minister of Energy João Baptista Borges, embarked on a trip to the United Arab Emirates with a primary objective of establishing technical working arrangements with the renowned renewable energy company, Masdar. The delegation had a particular focus on the concessions that would be made by Masdar to ensure the investment of about 500 megawatts of renewable energy in Angola in the coming years. This investment plan was made based on a memorandum of understanding that was previously signed with the Angolan government during President João Lourenço's visit to the United Arab Emirates in December of the previous year.

Masdar is a reputable entity in the United Arab Emirates, known for managing renewable energy projects in the country. There is an existing memorandum of understanding between Masdar and the Angolan government that aims to establish a trade agreement for investment in Angola. The work visit to the UAE was essential in ensuring that the pending issues surrounding the project were adequately addressed at a technical level, and future actions were defined. This was to ensure that the project progressed smoothly and quickly, thereby achieving its objectives. Masdar is set to generate renewable energy in pre-identified locations and regions, amounting to several watts in the coming years. The current working visit by the delegation from the Ministry of Energy and Water is aimed at ensuring the smooth implementation of this project by addressing all pending issues at a technical level. This includes defining future actions to ensure that the project progresses quickly and efficiently towards its goals.

During the delegation's visit, the Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, held a crucial meeting with the Director-General of the International Agency for Renewable Energy (IRENA), Francesco La Camera. The meeting between the minister and the director-general centered around discussing the issues between Angola and IRENA. Angola had joined IRENA on January 26th, 2009, and there was a need to strengthen cooperation between the country and the agency. The meeting was also an opportunity to tap into IRENA's vast expertise in renewable energy development.

Averi Finance played a significant role as an advisor to the project that led to the signing of an agreement between the Minister of Energy and Water of Angola and the CEO of Masdar. Averi Finance partnered with Masdar to advance and develop the application of renewable energy and green hydrogen technologies in Angola, in line with the government's policies on foreign direct investment. The project is expected to support Angola's goal of achieving 75% renewable energy by 2025, without requiring government loans or sovereign debt. With its expertise in financial advisory services, the company contributed to building the partnership between Masdar and the Angolan government and helped to facilitate the investment in renewable energy that will improve energy production and access, create jobs, and boost economic development in the country.

The delegation's efforts eventually yielded the desired outcome, as Masdar agreed to invest the promised 500 megawatts of renewable energy in Angola over the next few years. This investment is expected to bring significant benefits to Angola, including job creation and a reduction in the country's carbon footprint. The Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, expressed his delight at the outcome of the delegation's visit and the prospect of a partnership with Masdar. He stated that the investment would have a positive impact on Angola's energy mix and contribute to the country's transition towards a more sustainable future.
